Photography has always been an experience alive and rich with the pulse and energy of life in a single moment, and it is the spirit of the people, their circumstances, which awakens my artistic expression- I find that I’m always in search of spiritual expression in socially provocative work.”
When I arrived in the 90’s from New York City, I met up with the Director of the Photography Department at Florida International University, William Maguire, who later became my teacher and mentor.
Maguire insisted that besides Henry Cartier Bresson who greatly influenced my work that I also look at the work of Robert Frank, Garry Winogrand, Walker Evans and the list was endless. This was only the beginning as my Pandora’s box now wide opened took me me to places I only dreamt of.
My encounter with Maguire was in fact, a journey in research that allowed me to be touched and opened to some of the most influential artist, photographers and writers in the world.
Along the way, was the careful watch of my wife who taught me to always lead by example.
